Eighteen years ago, when I was twenty-two, I chased a burly crook who had dared to steal my wallet in broad daylight. I knew that my chances of catching the thief were practically nil, but I ran anyway. I’m glad I did because on that day, providence plus a few good policemen were on my side.

Facing the New Year: Fr. James Martin’s Social Media Resolutions for 2014
In 2014, I’d like to go back to listing resolutions again. I think it’s a good exercise in mapping out one’s life: changing things that need to be changed, stopping (or at least trying to stop) bad habits and envisioning the kind of life one hopes to live.
